our own individual world

Only so many minutes left before the night joins
Us and we get to traverse the gloom
Riddled with happy connections
Orange and yellow circles on the front window
White veins and green stems straight from the field
No hesitation before the peacefulness begins
It’s the white candle that I
Need to relax near, because when I
Decided to get it for you, it was a pure thought,
I knew it would be correctly received and
Very cold mornings are like a get well card
Instigated the fever of a night of snowball fights
During a season that seems made for me
Under the sky full of shooting stars
Across the top of trees and clouds
Like a science fiction movie meets Christmas
When we met again it was this time of year
On the occasion of a gathering of family
Realizations of how much has changed and
Liking the thought of all I am thankful for
Doing anything with you is perfect

raindrops and candy

Reaching up to the lamp
Awake at the music of a waterfall
Inside the next room is a hot tub filling up
Nicely relaxing smells of cotton and
Dropping sauce all over the roasting vegetables
Right out on the fence a bird and squirrel converse
Over the branch of a berry covered tree
Peeking over the counter is a dog who likes carrots
Shyness is neither of our strong suits
Awful chill being fought back with ale and
Never taking an eye off of the heat under the pan
Dark lines across green like a shadow of window blinds, I
Can tell you are as content as I am this evening
After missing you all day this is the best hour
Now that you slide up behind me and embrace me
Drinking in the activity and flow of the night to be
Your face lights me up when I think of it

sunflower vampire

Sometimes the need for two
Understandably opposing viewpoints
Needs a table to converse across among
Friends when this world puts the pressure on
Late to the party, all of our smiles and winks
Offer an explanation at the comfort level
While both looking forward, we still touch shoulders
Empathic to this suffering our minds and bodies endure
Restless anxiety relieved by calm mood
Very collected in the surrounding heat of the room
Awash in the feelers in the color of purple naps
Many grey cottony gatherings come across
Past the trees and around the house
Interior sounds of a boiling pot and a whining dog
Ready for the momentum to arrive again
Ending the night falling asleep hand in hand

the internal winter

Tasting the wind and the coffee finally cold
Hope rides the sun over your shoulder like morning
Equally sharing a color that soup can share
In a number of minutes the salt will meet water and
Nocturnal flavor will drive the heat into vegetable
Turning the kitchen into friends that gather
Egg joins tomato while onions are the raft capers riddle on
Red swirls in a circle, imitating the view of a
Naturally gathering funnel of clouds or storm from above
Across your skin the chill of October touches
Long strands of flavorful pepper and honey co-mingle
Windows show that snowy clouds are low
Inside the spoon small spices mix like butterflies
No spiciness or sweetness until after the meat
The whole woodland forest is what I picture with this smell
Ending with a stewing bowl of yum
Really warming all the way to yawn

reminded to live

Recall a found art piece that was mine
Effort required to stay in the normal realm
Making so many memories occur again
Incense that helps with the collection of
Nights filled with laughter and candles
Deep conversations about dreams and dog treats
Equal parts inspiration and exasperation
Desire for the least amount of stress and movement
There are days when that is the relief of pain
Only desire is for the outside world to go away
Like the removal of ache that a good chicken soup used to bring
Introducing a glad time with you once again
Very slowly the leaves fall and the wind chime chimes
Evolution of an Autumn wind rushing into next year

collective brain

Cradled in the hands of a tree
On the afternoon of a quiet sunset
Long strands of spiderwebs play tag
Little winking flashes of light strobe the glass
Excited inside of the two lanterns of
Cold blue shine and the spiders of Love
That crawl across your skin in a warm draft
In the veins under your hair and the back of your arm
Violet leaves of a flower that is dying
Even as we all must pass, when it is our time
Billowing drapes that reveal the horizon
Roaming around the house with a fever in the blood
Always answering your questions with the sounds of a beast
Incredible purrs slowly unfurling
Now the sky fades darkness to sleep

into the evening

Innocent little snowflakes
Meeting in these tiny last flowers soon
Taking our few next minutes to bite
On the bit Of chocolate and pull the blanket up
Treating this evening as a hide-away day
Having no place to be and no pressing matters
Extending arms in a yawn and a stretch after an
Exhausting week like this one has been
Velocity stopped in motion after just such a kiss
Easily settled into a waiting game with the oven
Nineteen cookies give or take a few
Insisting on a scary film or three
Now the sky and light reflects diamonds in your eyes
Got to get right next to you

tangent on rooftops

Taking time to reaffirm
An approach to the party week Of cold breeze
Now I am coming through before I am numb
Gripping in the dark room Of past history
Either I wasn’t there but the brain turned Off a little bit
Nevermind how often I wandered or
These needs I have to go for a perfect alignment
Of the tastes in a recipe or some lines in a painting
Nights that are brewed in the ashes of the weekend
Revealed to be a Layer of dismissed fall leaves
Organized by the nature that warned them
Of the closing of the window At the end of Their days
Far across the lake when spring hibernates
Toppling a tower of warmth waiting for winter
Only the night brings some sort of relief in this
Pouring out of stress in one hot cup of
Steamy comfortable relaxation

to the love of cold

The many hours of ache
Of the morning being too soon
Top of the roof to the bottom of your shoes
Happy to have friends gather
Ending the harvest month on a good song
Like the edge of a copper moon
Off a portch that can Only be ours
Very funny moments and wine the color Of blood
Every day and Night Better
Only these days last long enough
Final games that’ show no remorse
Can we just lay here awhile
On my chest you recline
Like a cat purring
Doing what every Sunday consists of

slow erosion of balance

Sorrow for the month that passed
Lifted up for the few moments at last
Omitted in the welcome of a new destination
Wanted by many but accomplished by few
Equal to this last connected piece of future planning
Right thought but very little therein
Occasionally thinking about an urgent matter but
Still acting like it was only important sometimes
Intense feelings driving the car of immediate considerations
Opposite to the need of relaxing future stress
Never taking into account the correcting of mistakes
Only aware of others and not yourself in this life
From now until the fortieth year when the changes appear
Being on edge until comfort appears
Across the aisle from desperate times
Listening to the last heartbeat of ambition
Amazed when people bother to show caring
Night is when feelings just get worse
Coasting to a stop on the most desolate road there is
Endings are preferable when the final choice arrives
