raindrops and candy

Reaching up to the lamp
Awake at the music of a waterfall
Inside the next room is a hot tub filling up
Nicely relaxing smells of cotton and
Dropping sauce all over the roasting vegetables
Right out on the fence a bird and squirrel converse
Over the branch of a berry covered tree
Peeking over the counter is a dog who likes carrots
Shyness is neither of our strong suits
Awful chill being fought back with ale and
Never taking an eye off of the heat under the pan
Dark lines across green like a shadow of window blinds, I
Can tell you are as content as I am this evening
After missing you all day this is the best hour
Now that you slide up behind me and embrace me
Drinking in the activity and flow of the night to be
Your face lights me up when I think of it
