four in the morning i open my eyes
in time to hear the crickets and
nesting moon among the curling clouds
during my waking i can’t help but see eyes
introducing me to the hidden animal that
night has been giving shelter to
giant whiskers thata re al around a darkness
ash colored plants that whisper in tiny winds
crimson flowers that intertwine like a jungle when
there are shiny yellow eyes peering out
issuing out an occasional little growl
very sharp teeth with a tongue
almost fiercely running across them
these bits of light
inside the hnting grounds
occupied on a prowl like a comfortable cave
now i realize that beast is in my mind
