from here to christmas

Flowers that only open at night
Reconstructed places to visit in my mind
Once my reality was a jump in a river
Mysterious how it is now just a stretching
Home for the evening and washing a plant
Evidently I am hoping for food from my ground
Ready to take care once again
Exits from a doubting past I fled
Tomorrow’s greeting will be too soon
Overhead the water will give me shade
Continuing these changes of appreciation
Hail on the neighbors but none over here
Recent happenings in our leafy cave
I want to combine our warmth and
Silhouettes to dance in the fiery light
Tumultuous times in last month’s rearview
Masks we are no longer wearing
As I see you arrive I ready iced tea
So we might go out in the yard and see
