popular tempest

portray yourself as a real
original version of your
previous personality come back around and
use that mask you have bothered to create
like a parachute that might save you but
argue about the ways that you have changed
requested people to see you as nice
then tease and insult and critique relentlessly
emerge as a person surprised at what people say
make as many friends as you want but if a
person you want to be with does it you don’t like it
entering a weekend getting no help with your illness
starving for company but asking is like a toothache
ten years go by before kindness arrives
